I was recommended the Metabolic Diet with Karine by my naturopath. I am a health care practitioner so I know what I should and should not do, I’ve studied nutrition and have helped others in their path. However, I had a year of a lot of stress eating, and not practicing what I preach and gained 10-15 pounds, my pants didn’t fit and I didn’t feel great. I needed a boost and some accountability. I got much more! I learned a different approach to eating and I like it! I have never measured my food or only had 3 meals a day, ever, I’ve always snacked...Through the metabolic diet, I got into the routine of 3 meals a day with enough protein in the meal that I was not hungry at all between meals. I also learned what an appropriate portion of food is - I was eating meals that were too big. Also, I am a huge lover of chocolate and sweets. After 2-3 days, I did not even crave sugar. I love that the maintenance phase is 80-20 rule. I don’t feel stuck in having to do 100% perfect all the time and am still happy with my results. And can still have treats here an there :)

Since joining Metabolic Balance the greatest advantage I have seen is that my overall eating habits have improved so dramatically that I no longer have sugar cravings. Doing any previous dieting, I would always crave sugars and "cheat" days once or twice a week but under this new program there has been no need for me to "cheat" since all the meals are so satiating.
Since starting the Metabolic Balance diet another benefit is that I no longer have any bloating after eating. I can eat my diet until I’m full but it never feels like I’ve overeaten. My sleeping has improved as I no longer wake up during the night with a bloated stomach. Although I did not join Metabolic Balance to lose weight, I was interested in joining to see if I could eat better, reduce body fat and gain more muscle in the gym. I can say that all of the above has occurred. I lost some fat and weight during the initial phase of the program (so much so, I needed to by a smaller waist size of jeans), but more importantly as I continued to do my weightlifting my muscle mass and definition has improved. There is a visual difference in muscular mass due to the complimentary diet that has help with my lifting. Over the years I have done many type of diets to be healthier but I can attest this is by far the most comprehensive and easiest to follow program that yielded immediate results. I would suggest anybody looking for a lifestyle change to investigate and do a Metabolic Balance program that is tailored to your individual body to maximize your health potential. R.A. At the end of 2018 I had a mental breakdown which left me immobilized and lifeless. I was diagnosed with MDD (major depressive disorder) and prescribed a series of medications and written off from adulting for at least 12 months. Fast Forward to summer 2021 - I was doing much better. Back at work, family was good, I had healed a lot and was doing well. There was still something not right with me though. I couldn't pinpoint what it was either. I have always struggled with weight, but after 3 kids and life you tend to put on a few pounds and not lose it, no matter what you eat or do. I had struggled immensely with my weight the past 8 years especially. Getting as high as almost 80kgs on the scales. My weight would never stabilize either and I would always be up and down on the scales and always feel like crap. Terrible digestion, horrid sleep, brain fog, migraines, terrible cravings, body aches and pains for no reason, hot flashes constantly - especially after eating, I had IBS pain and symptoms constantly, with bloating always…i had the worst menstrual cycles, I was an emotional roller coaster also - honestly my list of symptoms was too long. Not to mention I was still not feeling 100% with my mental health yet. I felt I was missing something?? I finally had the guts to reach out to Karine and ask if she would help me with my health. She was the last missing puzzle piece I hadn't tried, being nutrition. I didn't know if the Metabolic Balance program was even right for me…I had no idea what was going to happen. It's now February 2022, I am down 10 kgs and have lost 10 inches off my entire body and FEEL LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS!!!! Within the first 7 days of starting the MB program all my symptoms disappeared. ALL symptoms disappeared!!!! I can't describe the feeling. It was euphoric. I had ZERO digestion issues, better sleep, zero brain fog, zero bloating, zero migraines, zero body aches and pains, zero hot flushes after eating, zero cravings, zero IBS pain/symptoms and my menstrual cycle regulated within a month with zero menstrual cramps/pain. My husband says I'm a different woman, and he hasn't seen me like this in 20 years. He is so happy and in turn I am happy. Karine was amazing through the whole metabolic balance process. I never felt alone, and even when I felt overwhelmed some days she was there to give her support. The biggest advice I have for anyone starting this program is to TRUST IN THE PROCESS, and do EXACTLY what you Karine tells you to do in your specialized program. I highly recommend this program. I have never felt this good and I owe it all to Karine for opening my mind, body and soul to the Metabolic Balance program. Karine is now working with me to try and get me off my medication one day. It is a goal of mine. I was on 120mg of antidepressants a day and now I'm on 80mg a day already and feeling fine....Slowly but surely I believe wholeheartedly with ongoing support of my nutritionist Karine, I will be off my medication one day for sure. Thank you Karine for all your care and support the past few months with the metabolic balance program, you have changed my life and my family's life for the better and for that I am eternally grateful. My journey began March 25 with my first consult with Karine. I consider myself a professional dieter, trying everything to reduce weight, decrease arthritis pain, reduce perimenopause symptoms. At 56 and active my whole life I did not want the roller coaster to go on. I want to golf, travel, carry my grandkids for hours, keep up with my young family without feeling like I am 90 yrs old at the end of the activity. So I took a chance, listened to my naturopath and committed to Metabolic Balance. Everything worthwhile takes patience, planning and hard work. I have been on the Metabolic Balance Plan since June 7th and I have lost 17 pounds and a total of 10 inches from the belly, hips and thighs. Believe me it works but you have to commit to it. It is not a "diet" but a meal plan made just for you. It is easy to do because for the first two weeks you follow the menu the plan provides for you. It is an adjustment, I won't lie, but once you get into it, it is fairly easy. You eat real food, fresh food that most people have at home. You don't need to buy special foods or take any supplements. Yet you will feel very good and energized. Your body adjusts and you will not crave sweets or junk foods as much after a while. My coach is Karine Vaillancourt. She is very knowledgeable and very available for any questions you may have. She was able to give me alternatives to some foods that I did not particularly like. She is very passionate about the plan and it shows. She has your best interest at heart and will encourage you if you get a bit discouraged. Right now I am allowed to have a "treat meal" every week and I really enjoy it! I gradually add new foods, one at a time, in my plan and I can almost eat anything now keeping in mind the 8 important rules. You also get used to eat smaller portions because your body tells you that you are full and you should not continue eating. Surprisingly, it is not that difficult to see people eat chips, desserts, etc. because you body will not crave it. I can even have a glass of wine once in a while. With a regular exercise routine, I will maintain my weight and feel even better. All in all this plan works and if you commit, you will not do the yoyo like some "diets" out there. This plan concentrates on your own metabolism. Currently, I’m in the fourth week of “my” Metabolic Balance plan, and I feel pretty great. I had been struggling with issues relating to bloating, lack of energy, and difficulty sleeping. I often suspected that my diet was the culprit; however, despite my efforts, I wasn’t able to resolve these issues – perhaps because my idea of a balanced diet was eating a salad before a chocolate bar J. I chose Metabolic Balance because it incorporates real food without eliminating important nutrients. Furthermore, my plan was tailored specifically for me. When deciding on a coach, Karine was the best option: not only is she well-versed in nutrition, but she also practices a very healthy lifestyle. The first two weeks of the plan were challenging, and I struggled with the changes, but Karine was/is always supportive and encouraging. My results thus far include improved digestion, energy, and quality of sleep. Additionally, I lost 10 pounds and 4.5 inches, and my skin has never looked better. Playing on the “heart” theme, I asked for a consultation with Karine. I was going for “healthy heart” vice a chocolate one J.
The first step was to fill out the questionnaire. There were several pages, so I sat down with my morning coffee with sweetener and cream and did some serious introspection. I answered honestly, cringing while I wrote down some of my responses. I also had to keep a food diary for a few days to provide to Karine along with the questionnaire. Again, I cringed as I wrote down some of my questionable choices in my moments of weakness. Karine then “worked her magic,” and I met with her after she conducted her analysis. I was astonished. Without her knowing my detailed family health history or my detailed medical history, she was able to identify deficiencies that ran in my family that I had completely forgotten about let alone even thought might be impeding me from achieving optimum health. Her assessment was very insightful. She was thoughtful, empathetic and very pleasant. She made sense and provided simple suggestions, tips and recommendations tailored to my body’s needs. She provided guidance in the areas where I needed an overhaul (eliminate artificial sweeteners), inclusions such as vitamins and minerals and in making better decisions in what I consume (whole foods, nuts, flax etc). After a month of following Karine’s recommendations I realized that I had not experienced a single headache – which was rare as I was prone to several of them each month. I never considered that they could be food related and had always assumed that I was either stress, eye strain or my hair was tied too tight. Karine’s advice and tips have now become incorporated as regular eating habits. So now my morning coffee is sweetened with coconut milk and a bit of agave syrup – delicious and guilt free J I feel much better and a bonus was that I got leaner. Karine made me realize that I control aspects of my health and well-being by what I choose to purchase and consume. She is well-rounded; a scientist, nutritionist, wife, mother, who is fit and strong, for me that carried added credibility since she can relate to the similar challenges I face in my daily life as a working wife and mom trying to eke out time for a workout while maintaining my sanity J. I would highly recommend Karine for anyone along the spectrum – from those who want to make major changes and need a starting point, to those who want a “tweak” to optimize their health. Carol |
